Duplicate a brand voice and test variants
With “Duplicate” you create a copy of your brand voice, test the variant on a test channel and only then swap it in the real channel.

Under Settings → Brand voices you open a brand voice’s menu and choose “Duplicate”. You adapt the copy and test it in a duplicated channel with “Test generation”. If it convinces you, assign it to the real channel. There is no built-in version management.

What is this about?
If you change a brand voice, the change applies immediately to all new posts of all channels that use this voice. There is no version history or “active version” in ALLMEDIA.AI. If you want to try out a new tone without changing running channels, you therefore work with a copy.
The copy is an independent brand voice. You test it on a test channel and only assign it to the real channel once it convinces you.
Step by step
- Duplicate the brand voice. Open Settings → Brand voices. Open the menu (three dots) of the brand voice you want and choose Duplicate. The editor opens with all fields and the name “… (Copy)”.
- Name and adapt the variant. Give the copy a meaningful name, for example “Company – casual test”. Change tonality, voice style, no-go words or other fields and save. The copy is only created when you save. If you close the editor before, the app asks whether you want to discard the copy.
- Create a test channel. Open Content → Channels and choose Duplicate on the channel you want to test for. This creates a channel “… (Copy)” with the same settings.
- Assign the variant in the test channel. Open the test channel and select your copy in the Brand Voice („Markenstimme“) building block in the channel canvas.
- Test and compare. Enter a topic in the Test generation („Test-Generierung“) building block and click Start test („Test starten“). For comparison, create a test with the same topic in the original channel.
- Apply or discard. If the variant convinces you, assign it in the channel canvas of the real channel. Then deactivate or delete the test channel. If it doesn’t convince you, delete the copy under Settings → Brand voices.

Limits and notes
- There is no version history, no automatic reset and no “active version”. If you want to keep a state, keep the old brand voice as a copy.
- Changes to a brand voice only affect new posts. Posts already created stay as they are.
- Deleting cannot be undone. Channels to which the deleted voice was assigned no longer have a brand voice afterwards.
- Templates are also applied as a copy: with New Brand Voice you choose Choose from templates.
Tips
- Keep only a few variants at the same time and delete discarded copies. This way your team doesn’t accidentally select the wrong one in the channel canvas.
- Always compare variants with the same topic. Only then do you see what the change to the voice achieves.
- For a completely different brand, a copy is the wrong approach. Use a separate workspace for that, see Multiple brand voices per workspace.
